We’re looking for a Director, Government Sales responsible for driving revenue growth by creating and executing sales plans to grow the government / SLED and federal civilian segments. The ideal candidate is capable of developing strategies and implementing plans to hit and exceed targeted sales goals while meeting their financial objectives. They bring with them the experience and know-how to identify new business opportunities and monitor Lawson's market share against the competition. This role oversees all government business except our military segment.
Our corporate headquarters is located in Chicago, IL. Employees work two days in the corporate office and can work remotely the remaining three days of the workweek. We offer retirement benefits plus vision, dental and medical benefits, as well as a paid holiday and PTO package.
Develops a complete understanding of the government / SLED and federal civilian segment.
Uses market knowledge to identify new business opportunities and develop comprehensive go-to-market strategic business plans.
Identifies new government / SLED segment-related products based on evolving customer needs.
Develops, implements, and manages integrated business and marketing plans.
Contributes to the development of sales strategies for products and services offered in the government/SLED and federal civilian market segment.
Supports the retention of existing accounts and the development of new accounts.
Drives the development and ongoing analysis of key metrics, recommending revised strategies and tactics as needed.
Assists in the development of sales campaigns, educational curriculum, and the annual strategic planning process.
Leads the government sales and government/SLED strategy and administration teams.
Develops and maintains knowledge of the competition.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Business strategist with proven ability to lead profitable sales organizations.
Proven sales and marketing experience with organizations in the government/SLED and federal civilian segments, with an in-depth understanding of industry best practices.
Strategic thinker with strong planning skills, able to execute on time and on budget.
Ability to develop and manage sales and profitability goals.
Strong leadership capabilities and ability to work cross-functionally in a matrix organization.
Excellent relationship-building skills at all levels.
Strong financial analysis and technical marketing skills.
Strong communication skills, particularly regarding motivation and presentation skills to multiple levels.
Proactive and goal-oriented self-starter, with the ability to work independently with little supervision.
Proficient in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
Experience with SAP is a plus.
